If you are thinking about visiting the Alto Mesa Ranch & Resort, I encourage you to go for it! My husband and I had an excellent week. Both experienced riders and newbies will enjoy themselves. I had never been on a horse in my life, but in no time, there I was, having a great time with everyone on the trails! Laura, the proprietor, will make you feel right at home, with wonderful food and gorgeous accommodations. We were able to spend time riding horses, relaxing, and visiting several interesting places nearby. And, we were able to spot elk, deer, wild horses, jackrabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, and red tailed hawks from our suite and the decks. So if you desire a wonderful vacation in a breathtaking place, give Alto Mesa a whirl!

Cajun Cooking Class with a professional chef! How cool is that? Along with great cooking tips, good wine and laughs, we ate the food created during the class ! Win, Win, Win!

Not only was the food to die for, the views at Alto Mesa Ranch are spectacular as well. Every window and the decks give unbelievable views of the Bonita Valley and the Capitan Mountains. A great vantage point to watch the ever changing sunsets on the Capitan Gap. Who would dream New Mexico has places like Alto Mesa Ranch and Resort that sits at an elevation where sometimes the the clouds are below?

Laura and Alto Mesa Ranch will always be a favorite to visit!

If your looking for a vacation with rugged breathtaking views, great horseback riding, elk, wild horses roaming about, and deer, Alto Mesa Resort is the place for you! Awesome sunrises over the Capitan Mountains. The colors are breathtaking. The accommodations are five-star. Beautiful suites. Each one different. Wonderful cuisine, it is sure to please everyone's taste. Sightseeing is great. We visited the site of the famous Lincoln County War, Billy the Kid museum, and the court house where he was jailed, bullet holes in ...the wall where he escaped shooting his way out. A lot of history.... Golfing, Ruidoso Downs if you like horse racing and if relaxing is on your mind, you can spend hours on the back deck watching the mountains change colors with every movement of the sun. Watch elk, deer, and if your very lucky you might see a bear on one of the mountains overlooking the valley. The hot tub is large and very relaxing. This has been the best vacation I have ever taken. I will definitely be going back!

My recent stay at Alto Mesa Ranch & Resort was an excellent experience.
The food was fabulous! Each meal exquisite to the theme. Prepared so very well.
The Trail Ride was beautiful, with a very knowledgeable guide, and the scenery was gorgeous . The views surrounding the Ranch is like walking into a painting from each door/exit. A beautiful mountain, a breath taking sunset, or moon rise. I captured the most beautiful rainbow I have ever seen. Mrs. Angell left out no details in making this stay elegant and refined, with a pleasant feeling of home all at the same time. You can really feel the spirit of Ranch life and the beautiful skies of New Mexico Mountains. The local events were well presented and gave me a chance to chat with the local folks who were very friendly.

Anyone will thoroughly enjoy a stay at this wonderful resort.

If you want to get away from all the noise of town but don't want to go far, Alto Mesa is the place! Beautiful views and easy to get to. Laura did such a great job planning everything for the week and making sure everyone had something to do. We went horseback riding, learned new recipes with a great chef, had time to relax and do a little shopping as well! We were able to see deer, jackrabbits, squirrels, and chipmunks every morning and some even saw an elk or two!
